28+ days for long wear medical adhesive 28 December 2023

Tape manufacturer Lohmann is supporting the medical and healthcare industry with the introduction of its latest adhesive, a skin-friendly, biocompatible and high-performance adhesive tape specially tailored to the requirements of sensitive and stressed skin, like those found amongst the elderly, children and athletes.

Specially designed for the growing market of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), Lohmann now offers an adhesive skin patch (DuploMED 85300) with a wearing time of ‘28+ days’, which significantly increases the wearing time of medical devices. The product helps to save costs and improve environmental footprint, as these costly CGM devices won’t have to be changed as regularly with DuploMED 85300.

The special adhesive is breathable, skin-friendly and can be removed painlessly after use despite its long adhesion. The company states that several wear studies of Lohmann's adhesive skin patch confirms its high reliability even under harsh external influences, such as outdoor sports or extensive exposure to humidity during showering or swimming.

The entire value chain for wearables

The demand for reliable wearable solutions in the medical sector is ever increasing – from monitoring and consumer health to diagnostics, cost and time-efficient devices that meet the needs of both an ageing population as well as chronically ill patients are highly requested. Lohmann provides in-house state of the art capabilities, which include adhesive formulation, coating as well as clean-room conversion, laboratories, testing and prototyping as well as roll-to-roll processing and die-cutting of the final product.

By offering the entire value-chain for wearables including the assembly, all from a single source, Lohmann positions itself as a CDMO (contract development and manufacturing organisation) for OEMs and manufacturers.
