NORMA supplies medical joining products for Italy, Spain and Germany 16 April 2020

NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, is ensuring the availability of joining products such as its Y plastic pipe connectors and taper thread connectors as well as white cable ties for attaching hoses, which are required in the manufacture of lung ventilators and in hospitals.

According to official permission, the distribution centres in Gavardo and Barcelona have reopened since the beginning of April, and the distribution centre in Marsberg, Germany, had not been closed all.

“With these urgently needed products, we are helping to maintain the manufacture of lung ventilators and supply hospitals with fastening products. Especially in the medical sector, it is currently essential to maintain the supply chain in order to provide the best possible care for Covid-19 patients. We are happy to be able to contribute to coping with the corona crisis with our products,” commented Dr Friedrich Klein, chief operating officer and member of the management board of NORMA Group.

In Italy and Spain, NORMA Group is supplying the connection solutions to distributors whose end customers have been classified as essential by the authorities. Most of the products are manufactured in NORMA Group's plants in Germany and Portugal. The distribution centres of NORMA Group in Italy and Spain have been supplied continuously throughout the past few weeks, so that the plastic pipe connectors, taper thread connectors and cable ties are available in sufficient quantities. Customer orders for medical applications can therefore be processed quickly.

Internally, NORMA Group is taking all necessary steps to protect the health and safety of employees and to be prepared for various scenarios. Teams at global, regional and local levels are ensuring measures are implemented in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO) as well as regional and local authorities.

In addition to preventive measures and guidelines such as travel restrictions, hygiene measures and home office, emergency plans are being prepared and implemented. Furthermore, NORMA Group is continuously screening its supply chains regarding any potential impact. Together with its suppliers, the company has set-up additional reporting activities to ensure a stable supply of material, services for the production and deliveries to customers.
