Aerogel technology in thermal insulation tape 06 September 2022

Digi-Key, which offers a large selection of electronic components and automation products, announced that it now offers a selection of Blueshift’s RockeTape, a structured air thermal insulation tape.

"Digi-Key Electronics is pleased to offer Blueshift's RockeTape. We are always looking for ways to bring the latest advancements of thermal insulation technology to our customers. Blueshift will help Digi-Key penetrate market segments that have a need for an insulative as well as a high temperature tape,” said Anissa Lauer, senior product manager at Digi-Key.

The RockeTape family of products utilises Blueshift's AeroZero® structured air polymeric aerogel technology to deliver a combination of low thermal conductivity and diffusivity. The company insists this line of thin and lightweight thermal insulation tape is capable of withstanding some of the most demanding applications on or off planet.

The company insists the aerogel composition delivers higher thermal insulation performance and protection when compared to traditional polyimide film tape. With its thin and flexible film, as well as the tapes narrow width roll format, RockeTape is easily applied to sensitive devices and surfaces, providing protection from extreme temperature fluctuations and overheating.

"Blueshift prides itself on a fast, focused and flexible approach to thermal protection systems. With our RockeTape launch, we needed a partner capable of matching our passion, commitment, and reach,” said Tim Burbey, president of Blueshift Materials Inc.
