Rawlplug takes big presence at UK Construction Week 19 September 2019

Rawlplug will be one of the main attractions at this year’s UK Construction Week – taking place from 8th – 10th October at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, UK – with the RawlTruck taking centre stage.

UK Construction Week (UKCW) is the UK’s largest built environment event including dedicated areas on Build, Building Tech, Civils, Energy & HVAC, Surface & Materials and Timber running.

Rawlplug exhibited at the 2018 edition of UKCW and reported a positive show. “The 2018 show was our second UKCW in a row and was a great success,” mentions Niall Thompson, marketing manager at Rawlplug (UK) Ltd. “We attracted a number of architects, structural and civil engineers, contractors and sub-contractors to our stand. We also had a lot of interest from universities and colleges regarding training, which was one of the factors in our decision to launch the Rawlplug Academy® and Training Centre in May of this year.”

The Rawlplug Academy is an innovative development programme intended for the company’s employees and customers, based on four pillars: E-learning, the new training centre, traditional training and an in-depth knowledge base.

“Our e-learning platform gives users access to online training modules to help develop their knowledge of fixings and with the new theoretical and practical zones in our new training centre in Reading, they can further develop their knowledge – as well as benefit from hands on training,” explains Niall. “We can also carry out training at any of our branch offices, as well as customers’ premises, and have an enormous portfolio of information and development materials – covering products and services. We already have training courses scheduled for the remainder of 2019, with e-learning courses set to be launched in Q1 of 2020.”

RawlTruck rolls into show
Rawlplug’s main stand at UKCW 2019 will be its RawlTruck, which prior to the show will be travelling throughout the UK & Ireland – providing professional training and technical support to Rawlplug’s existing customer base. “At stand B220 the RawlTruck will focus on Rawlplug’s 100 year anniversary, by showcasing how the first Rawlplug has evolved over this time, as well as how the brand has established itself as one of the world’s leading fixing and fastener manufacturers,” mentions Niall.

The stand promises to be a hive of activity with visitors also given the opportunity to enter the ‘Become a Rawlplug Expert’ competition, with the winner receiving a once in a lifetime ZERO-G Experience®, worth over GB£20,000.

“As part of the ‘Become a Rawlplug Expert’ campaign, we have focused on four categories (lightweight fixings, mechanical anchors, bonded anchors, and direct fastening system tools) and will be demonstrating three out of these four categories at the show: R-LX (mechanical anchors), SC40 II (direct fastening system) and R-KER II (bonded anchor),” mentions Niall. “By entering the competition and answering eight questions, the winner will embark on a ZERO-G Experience involving complete weightlessness whilst flying in a plane. It begins with the aircraft climbing at a 45 degree angle to approximately 23,000 feet (7,000m), after peaking at 32,000ft (9,800m), the aircraft then points down at a 30 degree angle – enabling the winner to experience zero gravity.”
