Investing in steady growth 06 October 2017

Colombo Special Fasteners Srl (CSF) has continued its steady growth, centring on the manufacture of cold-pressed special products for complex applications and for highly-specialised clients, after recently acquiring Tecno Fasteners Srl.

Based in Rozzano, south of Milan, Tecno Fasteners specialises in the manufacture of custom-designed screws and fasteners in class 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9 carbonitrided steel, AISI 304 and 316 stainless steel, aluminium alloy and copper alloy for applications in the automotive, steel mechanical engineering sectors, door and window frames, and marine engineering.

With this new acquisition, Colombo Special Fasteners Srl and Tecno Fasteners Srl are now able to offer a vast range of specialist cold-pressed products, with a diameter range between 2mm - 33m. A total of 300 million pieces per year is currently being manufactured, with the capacity to increase production to 450 million pieces if required. This is possible to the wide range of machinery at the two companies, which includes 14 presses with 5 stations for diameters between 4mm and 33mm, 11 double-action presses for diameters between 2mm and 8mm, 27 thread-cutting machines, as well as 5 segregating machines.

Both companies are already certified to ISO/TS 16949, however, to further improve quality - and to meet the most stringent requirements for precision from its clients – CSF has initiated an intensive investment plan in a fully automated division for the mechanical processing of manufactured pieces. This will include carrying out turning, boring and milling operations, which means CSF will be able to control the entire processing cycle in its own factory. Ensuring the manufacturing of higher quality pieces for its clients in accordance with their precise geometrical and dimensional requirements.

“We consider that globalisation has accelerated a process of production decentralisation over the decades and that in the ‘old continent’ of Europe, it is necessary to transform our own manufacturing processes, as well as our technical and commercial outlooks, in order to focus on highly specialised, high-performance products - staying ahead of our competitors in our strategic choices,” explains Marco Colombo, CEO at Colombo Special Fasteners. “We are investing not only in technologically advanced systems, but also in the professional development of our own staff at every level, whether it be production, technical or commercial.

Marco continues: “Sustainable growth will no longer go hand in hand with growth in volume, which will be the preserve of the major groups now consolidated on a world-wide scale. We believe nevertheless in sustainable future development and we firmly believe that any transaction entered into and any investment, including Industry 4.0 which we too are adopting, must focus on specialist growth. Both Colombo Special Fasteners srl and Tecno Fasteners srl will always be qualified specialist partners for anyone who needs expert technical collaboration.”
