Star Fasteners is on track 20 April 2017

Specialists in the supply and distribution of Huck® fasteners, Star Fasteners is proud to call itself the UK’s largest Distributor for Arconic’s Huck fastener brand, working with a diverse range of end users and distributors from across a number of industries including rail, solar, wind power, automotive, marine and the commercial vehicle market.

Star Fasteners reveals it has become a trusted name within the rail industry after securing a number of rail contracts, and states that the Huck fasteners are suitable for a wide range of tough engineering situations with the ability to be installed wherever there’s a requirement for structural strength and resistance to vibration & loosening.

Star was able to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification this year, and Dan Starbuck comments: “We are very focused on quality and source our products from quality manufacturers. Dedicated control systems for goods received and stock stored in our warehouse ensure full traceability”.

One fastener that Star Fasteners say is becoming increasingly popular in the European market is the BobTail® lock bolt. The BobTail has been designed to provide superior joining strength and fast, secure installation. One key advantage of this fastener over conventional lock bolting systems is that it doesn’t have a pintail to break off. As a result of this there is no waste material to collect and dispose of post-installation and there is an improvement in corrosion resistance. The installation system provides a smooth, shock-free process with significantly reduced maximum noise levels, typically less than 70dB which may provide health and safety benefits. Declared by DIBt as ‘maintenance free’, the 12, 14, 16, 20mm and 1inch diameter BobTail is now approved to be used in both static and dynamic civil engineering applications.

In addition, Star is also an accredited Huck tool service and repair department. It says its expert technical knowledge and a large tool hire fleet complements the service, plus to accommodate this area of expanding operations a dedicated team of experienced engineers, trained to respective manufacturers’ recommendations, are available. A full service history can be provided and all quotations are free of charge. Repairs are fully guaranteed and accredited to ISO 9001 standard certification.

On-site training programmes are also offered, with the aim of adhering to health and safety requirements as well as ensuring that tools are suitable for the task in hand and fasteners are being installed correctly.

Star’s product range includes rivets, threaded inserts, and screws. “Our biggest strength is that we combine quality products, offer a reliable service and have many years of application experience”, says Starbuck.
